We Are Art x Blaq Streetwear are pleased to announce our open call for emerging local artists. We invite Detroit (and Metro area) artists to submit new or previously shown artworks for our very first "wall" curation at the Blaq Streetwear flagship shop. Curated by Nyia Bentley.

Urban Canvas seeks to explore the intersection of contemporary art and street fashion, emphasizing how both cultures influence and inspire each other.

​

We will prioritize emerging Black artists and Detroit natives, but encourage all artists to submit.

​

We welcome all works about or influenced by fashion, street art, and streetwear culture. We also welcome works examining how streetwear and art reflect social and cultural issues.

 

We encourage artists of all ages and mediums to submit their artwork between May 25 and June , 2024.  This is an opportunity to have your work displayed at the We Are Art gallery installation inside of the Blaq Streetwear flagship shop in Detroit.

Open call ends on June 1, 2024. It is FREE to submit your artwork.

Selected artists will be announced on June 7, 2024.
